MCAD Sustainable Design Online Courses & Related Film Series

Created for the busy professional, these college courses are part of a green design certificate program offered by the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and developed in partnership with the MPCA and the o2 Global Green Design Network.

Take courses as part of the certificate, or take one course (5 weeks or 15 weeks; approx. $300 - $1900, depending on credit/no credit and length of class) to deepen your understanding of a single topic.

Tap into new avenues for innovation, competitive advantage, and profitability.

Today's leading organizations have embraced sustainable design practices not only because they're good for the environment, they're good business. Starbucks, Nike, IKEA, Interface Carpet and Aveda, as well as giants like 3M, Ford Motor Company, Wal-Mart, and the City of Chicago, are just some of those at the forefront of sustainable design.

As markets globalize and become ever more competitive, MCAD courses offer a great way to gain in-depth, actionable knowledge. They are geared to build a better design environment, offering real tools for anyone working in, or contracting design (graphic, packaging, product), including brand managers, product planners, buyers, designers and art directors.

In addition to working designers and creative-service buyers, educators, and government officials, students of all backgrounds are welcome to register.

Dive into the entire 18 credit certificate for a deep learning experience, or take single classes to help update your skills -- in an online environment that fits your schedule. Courses cover all aspects of sustainable design -- from the theoretical underpinnings to actionable tools and techniques. Making it easy to look to tomorrow, while still being profitable today.

During the academic year a free Celebrate Sustainability Film Series shows monthly screenings about key sustainability
issues affecting our world. Discussion follows with practicing eco-designers. Held at 7:00 p.m. at the MCAD College Center. Details at http://o2umw.org/events#Films
