Energy Efficiency in the Home

If you want to find ways to lower your energy bills and your carbon footprint, here's where to begin. With minimal effort most people can substantially reduce their energy costs. We will discuss and demonstrate easy, cost effective energy saving strategies. First we'll explore energy use by dissecting your Xcel (or other) billing history. Then, we'll show you how to save natural gas through weatherization, insulation and tuning up your heating system and water heater. Electrical saving will be addressed through load shaving, lighting, adjusting electrical components and changing behaviors. Bring your billing history to class and some ideas to share!
